To Our SMC Faithful,
Grace and peace to each of you. Thanks to the Rev. Frank Seignious for last week’s message, his presence has been a blessing to SMC over the last month. This Sunday will be exciting as our new pastor will be with us for the first time. Let’s give him a great welcome to our joyful church! My thanks to Bruce and Susan Schreffler for their work with the SMC Music Team. We had a very good meeting with 10 SMC members willing to help out with the Music program Tuesday morning!

SMC NURSERY - WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS SUNDAY!
Thank you to Bethany Tanner and Becky Glaze for volunteering to serve in the nursery last week. We do need volunteers for this Sunday (16 Feb)! Based on last week’s nursery attendance, we need two SMC ladies, or married couple, and at least one teenager to help. There will also be a sign-up sheet at the entry tables again this Sunday. The nursery will be open just prior to the service and located in the classroom to the right side of the gym. We ask our Mom’s and Dad’s to bring their car seats, diaper bags, and any small toys into the nursery for their babies.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY EVENT - “Cooking up God’s Love” - 16 February 4:00PM to 6:00PM
Robyn and Dana “The Chairman” Schmieding will be hosting this Children’s Ministry event for children ages 5 to 12 years old at the Candlelite Pavilion at Summerville Country Club. Activities will include four Bible Game Stations and two Bible Craft Stations. These stations will be manned by Summerville Methodist Church teens.
Following the activity stations, the children will enjoy a sit-down dinner of chicken fingers and fries served by tuxedo clad gentlemen volunteers. Our very own Pastor Ross will be giving the blessing. Dessert will be a homemade cookie bar served by volunteer ladies wearing, you guessed it, chef’s hats! Dana will serve as head maitre d' and Miss Robyn will be wearing her full chef's costume!
FAMILY DIRECTORY PICTURES - NEW!
SMC is creating a digital directory for our new pastor. We will continue to take pictures before and after worship service this Sunday February 16th.
NAME TAG SIGN-UPS - NEW!
The initial name tag order was placed and we are eagerly awaiting their delivery.
VOLUNTEER TEAMS - THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVE
Thanks to all the volunteers who have “pitched in” every Sunday to set-up the worship space, prepare and serve the goodies, make the digital directory come to life, create the worship bulletin, help with parking, and update our SMC social media pages, to name a few. All these activities are acts of service. Thanks again!
Bruce and Susan Schreffler have volunteered to guide our Music Team moving forward. The Music Team is planning on meeting each Thursday evening at 6:00PM starting Feb 20th at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. If you are interested in this important ministry, please join us!
Worship Team – there will be a meeting on 13 Feb from 6:00PM - 7:00PM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. If you have an interest in being a member of the Altar Guild or acting as a Communion Steward, please join us.
SMC Governance - as an independent church, SMC needs to establish our governing documents such as the church Constitution, By-Laws, Doctrine and Discipline. There will be a meeting on 13 Feb from 7:00PM - 8:00PM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Join us if you are interested in working in this area for our church.
We are actively reaching out to members of the church to establish Volunteer Teams for Christian Education
We are looking for a Volunteer Team Lead for our SMC Ushers. We already have a schedule built for our SMC volunteers, but we need someone to lead and train our ushers going forward! Please contact Chris Glaze if you would like to serve in this capacity.
Remember, we are a laity driven church and those who would like to serve are encouraged to contact Chris Glaze at 843-327-1449.
CARPOOLING IS A BLAST! TELL YOUR SMC FRIENDS…
We encourage you to continue to find a friend with whom you can carpool and fellowship with on the way to worship!
SUNDAY SCHOOLS
Presently we have the following schedule for Sunday School Classes carrying over from Bethany UMC:
• Meeting at 8:30 AM will be the Seekers, Good Shepherd, and Circle of Faith Sunday School Classes.
• Our Daily Bread (11 AM) class will meet after church.
• Youth and Children Classes will be organized once we have our pastor, who will be charged with Christian Education for Children, Youth and Adults.
• We met again with Pastor Nick of the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 12 Feb. Pastor Ross also attended the meeting. We have requested additional space to accommodate our growing Sunday School needs and expect a response from the Seventh Day Adventist Church this month.
PREPARE FOR WORSHIP
Our scriptures this Sunday will come from Psalm 33 and 1 Corinthians 15:1-11. The Pastor Ross will deliver his sermon, “A People Called, Part 1”. Liturgist will be Kevin Carter.

Romans 8:38-39: "I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, nor powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord."
