Grace and peace to each of you. Last Sunday felt like our biggest Sunday yet! Such a joy to have us all together in worship. Thanks to the Rev. Bobby Jackson for last week’s message. I encourage you to continue to worship with us and to ask those of you who have yet to attend to join us this Sunday, February 9th at 9:45 AM at the SMC Seventh-day Adventist Church campus - 520 Gahagan Rd, Summerville, SC. The Rev. Frank Seignious is back for a return engagement this Sunday!

SMC Welcome Party for Pastor Ross Chellis and Family
Please join us in welcoming our new Pastor Ross Chellis and his Family on Friday February, 21st from 6PM - 9PM at the Dorchester Boat Club.
We will provide the BBQ meat and paper products. Please RSVP and sign-up to bring a side / desert / or drink below. We will also have a paper sign-up sheet at church this coming Sunday at the welcome table.

SMC NURSERY – NEW!
We will host our first nursery during our 9:45AM church service this Sunday (9 February). The nursery will be where the Seekers class Sunday School class meets. We ask our Mom’s and Dad’s to bring their car seats, diaper bags, and any small toys into the nursery for their babies. Thank you to Bethany Tanner and Becky Glaze for volunteering to man the station this week. We are seeking additional volunteers and will have a sign-up sheet at the entry tables this Sunday.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY EVENT - “Cooking up God’s Love” – 16 February 4:00 to 6:00 PM
Mark your calendars! Robyn and Dana “The Chairman” Schmieding will be hosting this Children’s Ministry event for children ages 5 to 12 years old at the Candlelite Pavilion at Summerville Country Club. Activities will include four Bible Game Stations and two Bible Craft Stations. These stations will be manned by Summerville Methodist Church teens.
Following the activity stations, the children will enjoy a sit-down dinner of chicken fingers and fries served by tuxedo clad gentlemen volunteers. Our very own Pastor Ross will be giving the blessing. Dessert will be a homemade cookie bar served by volunteer ladies wearing, you guessed it, chef’s hats! Dana will serve as head maitre d' and Miss Robyn will be wearing her full chef's costume!
FAMILY DIRECTORY PICTURES - NEW!
SMC is creating a digital directory for our new pastor. We will continue to take pictures before and after worship service this Sunday and will continue each Sunday through February 16th.
NAME TAG SIGN-UPS - NEW!
Make sure you sign up for your SMC Name Tag this week! A table with sign-up sheets will be set up from 8 AM until after the service that morning. We will repeat this process on the following Sunday. Future orders will be available on an ongoing basis. Information on this process will follow later.
Each tag will be $15. If you’re paying by check, please make it payable to Summerville Methodist Church with “Name Tag” written on the subject line. If you’re paying with cash, please bring the correct change.
Monies will be collected at the sign-up table where you place your order.
IMPORTANT: if you want MORE THAN 1 name tag, please write your name on a separate line for EACH tag. Please print clearly exactly how you want your name to read on your tag.

VOLUNTEER TEAMS - THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SERVE
Bruce and Susan Schreffler have volunteered to guide our Music Team moving forward. There will be a meeting of the Music Team at Panera Bread on 11 Feb at 09:30AM. If you are interested in this important ministry, please join us!
Worship Team – there will be a meeting on 13 Feb from 6:00-7:00PM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. If you have an interest in being a member of the Altar Guild or acting as a Communion Steward, please join us.
SMC Governance – as an independent church, SMC needs to establish our governing documents such as the church Constitution, By-Laws, Doctrine and Discipline. There will be a meeting on 13 Feb from 7:00-8:00PM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Join us if you are interested in working in this area for our church.
We are actively reaching out to members of the church to establish Volunteer Teams for Christian Education.
Remember, we are a laity driven church and those who would like to serve are encouraged to contact Chris Glaze at 843-327-1449.
CARPOOLING IS A BLAST! TELL YOUR SMC FRIENDS…
We encourage you to continue to find a friend with whom you can carpool and fellowship with on the way to worship!
SUNDAY SCHOOLS
Presently we have the following schedule for Sunday School Classes carrying over from Bethany UMC:
• Meeting at 8:30 AM will be the Seekers, Good Shepherd, and Friendship Circle Sunday School Classes.
• Our Daily Bread (11 AM) class will meet after church.
• Youth and Children Classes will be organized once Pastor Ross arrives, who will be charged with Christian Education for Children, Youth and Adults.
PREPARE FOR WORSHIP
Our scriptures this Sunday will come from 1 Samuel 16:1-13 and Luke 5:1-11. The Rev. Frank Seignious will deliver his sermon, “The Mighty Men and Women of David”. Liturgist will be Sam Brock.
Romans 8:38-39: "I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither present nor the future, nor powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord."
